Cambridge A-Level: A Global University Passport
Cambridge A-Level is recognised by universities in over 160 countries as a rigorous and credible pre-university qualification. Whether your goal is Oxford, the University of Melbourne, or NUS, Cambridge A-Level provides the academic foundation you need.
UK Universities
Cambridge A-Level was originally designed for entry into UK universities and remains the gold standard for UK admissions.
Russell Group universities (including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, UCL) typically require:- 3 A-Level subjects
- Grades ranging from AAA to ABB depending on the course
- Some courses require specific subjects (e.g., Chemistry and Biology for Medicine)
- Business and Economics
- Engineering and Computer Science
- Law
- Medicine and Life Sciences
- Social Sciences
Australian Universities
Australian universities have a clear and transparent process for assessing Cambridge A-Level results.
The Group of Eight (Go8) universities — including the University of Melbourne, ANU, and UNSW — accept Cambridge A-Level for direct entry. Students typically need:
- 2–3 A-Level subjects
- Minimum grades of C or above (higher for competitive courses)
- English language proficiency (IELTS 6.5+ or equivalent)
Canadian Universities
Top Canadian universities including the University of Toronto, UBC, and McGill accept Cambridge A-Level for direct entry. Requirements vary by faculty and programme.
Asian Universities
National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) accept Cambridge A-Level for direct entry. Competitive courses such as Medicine, Law, and Engineering require high grades.
